Easy Chocolate Pancakes

These soft, fluffy chocolate pancakes come together with a few simple ingredients and cook perfectly in a skillet. Great for breakfast or dessert
Ingredients
1 large egg
1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
¾ cup (180 ml) milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1 tablespoon melted butter or vegetable oil
Pinch of salt
Butter or oil, for greasing the pan
Instructions:
Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together:

Flour
Cocoa powder
Sugar
Baking powder
Salt
Step 2: Add the Wet Ingredients
Add the egg, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter to the bowl.

Whisk until smooth. Do not overmix—a few small lumps are perfectly fine.

Step 3: Let the Batter Rest
Allow the batter to rest for 5–10 minutes. This helps create softer, fluffier pancakes.

Step 4: Heat the Pan
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat and lightly grease it with butter or oil.

Step 5: Cook the Pancakes
Pour about ¼ cup of batter onto the hot skillet for each pancake.
Cook for 2–3 minutes, or until bubbles appear on the surface and the edges begin to set.
Flip carefully and cook for another 1–2 minutes, until the pancake is cooked through.
Step 6: Repeat
Continue cooking the remaining batter, adding a little more butter or oil to the pan if needed.

Step 7: Serve
Stack the pancakes and serve warm with your favorite toppings, such as:

Maple syrup
Chocolate syrup
Fresh berries
Sliced bananas
Whipped cream
Powdered sugar
Chopped nuts
Tips
For extra chocolate flavor, stir ¼ cup chocolate chips into the batter.
If the batter is too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons of milk.
Cook over medium-low heat to prevent the cocoa from burning while ensuring the pancakes cook evenly.
