What You’ll Need
Main Ingredients
¼ cup carrier oil (such as sweet almond oil, safflower oil, or fractionated coconut oil)
20–30 drops of your favorite essential oil
Optional
1 teaspoon rubbing alcohol or vodka (helps the fragrance travel up the reeds)
Glass bottle or small decorative jar
Reed diffuser sticks or bamboo skewers
Step 1: Prepare the Bottle
Choose a clean glass bottle with a narrow opening.
A smaller opening slows evaporation and helps the diffuser last longer.
Step 2: Add the Carrier Oil
Pour about ¼ cup of carrier oil into the bottle.
The carrier oil helps the fragrance evaporate slowly over time.
Step 3: Add Essential Oils
Add 20–30 drops of essential oil.
Popular combinations include:
Lavender + vanilla
Lemon + rosemary
Orange + cinnamon
Peppermint + eucalyptus
Grapefruit + bergamot
Adjust the amount depending on how strong you like the scent.
Step 4: Add Alcohol (Optional)
Mix in 1 teaspoon of rubbing alcohol or vodka.
This can help the oil travel more easily through the reeds.
Gently swirl the bottle to combine the ingredients.
Step 5: Insert the Reeds
Place 5–8 reed sticks into the bottle.
Allow them to absorb the scented oil for several hours.
