Infuse the baby oil
Pour baby oil into a heat-safe beaker and warm it in a hot-water bath (≈ 50 °C).
Add crushed cloves; maintain gentle heat for 20 minutes to release eugenol.
Strain the oil through a fine mesh or coffee filter to remove clove fragments.
Melt & blend the lipids
In a separate beaker, melt coconut oil and shea butter together over the same water bath until just clear.
Stir in the clove-infused baby oil; whisk until completely mixed, then remove from heat.
Cool-down phase
Allow the blend to cool to about 40 °C (warm but comfortable to touch).
Gradually whisk in rice powder to avoid clumps.
Fold in aloe-vera gel, rose water, vitamin E oil and optional green-tea extract. Whisk until the cream turns glossy and slightly thick.
Set & store
Decant into a clean, dry glass jar.
Leave to solidify at room temperature for 2–3 hours (or refrigerate 20 minutes for faster setting).
The finished texture should be a soft balm that melts on contact with skin.
Instructions for Use
Patch test on inner forearm for 24 hours, especially if you have sensitive skin.
Nightly application: after cleansing and toning, warm a pea-sized dab between fingertips and massage onto face, neck and décolletage in upward strokes.
Layer wisely: skip other heavy occlusive products; lightweight serums (e.g., hyaluronic acid) can go underneath.
Morning care: rinse with a mild cleanser and follow with broad-spectrum SPF—the rich oils can make skin more photo-sensitive.
Shelf life: the blend is anhydrous, so it keeps 3–4 months in a cool, dry spot. Discard if smell or texture changes.
Benefits of the DIY
Powerful antioxidant shield – Eugenol from cloves and catechins from green tea fight free radicals, slowing wrinkle formation.
Collagen support – Aloe-vera polysaccharides and rice peptides encourage firmer, plumper skin.
Brighter, even tone – Ferulic acid and niacin-like compounds in rice fade dullness and age spots.
Intense hydration – Baby oil’s occlusive layer plus coconut and shea lipids reduce transepidermal water loss through the night.
Barrier reinforcement – Coconut oil’s lauric acid and vitamin E strengthen skin’s lipid matrix against pollutants.
Calmed inflammation – Rose water’s flavonoids and clove’s antimicrobial profile soothe redness and curb breakouts.
Accessible & adaptable – Every ingredient is easy to source; tweak consistency by adjusting coconut oil (firmer) or rose water (lighter).
